Brian Costello, New York Post: Did you think the Jets would be where you would end up? Did you have a lot of interaction with them during the pre-draft process?
It was definitely a possibility. I definitely knew I had some interest there, so I’m excited.
Brian Costello, New York Post: What do you feel like your strengths are as a player, Max?
I’m versatile, I’m tough and I’m athletic. I’m resilient, I don’t quit, I’m a hard worker. I’m here to contend, I’m ready to go.
Brian Costello, New York Post: Did you play tackle and guard in college?
I did, I played both tackles and left guard.
Brian Costello, New York Post: Have you heard anything from NFL teams during the process of where NFL teams kind of saw you playing?
They were asking how comfortable I was at certain positions. They just wanted to know, “What do you think I could do?” I’m open to whatever.
Brian Costello, New York Post: Have you ever been to New York before, Max?
No sir, I haven’t.
Brian Costello, New York Post: What do you think about getting drafted by New York and being in New York City/New Jersey?
I’m excited, it’s a new step in life. It’s the next step for me and I couldn’t be happier to make that step.
Connor Hughes, The Athletic: What was the interaction like with the Jets during the pre-draft process? How much did they talk to you? Did you kind of have a feeling that this might be where you’re going?
They started scouting me, I met some scouts during the season. They’d come out and watch some practices and some one-on-one reps and stuff like that. That bled over to Senior Bowl and to the combine and to Zoom meetings after the combine in between this period between them. I knew they had some interest, so I wasn’t completely surprised, but I was excited.
Brian Costello, New York Post: Max, do you know much about the Jets?
I learned a lot through this process, but I’m still learning a lot.
