October 20, 2020 – The New York Jets and STOMP Out Bullying, will continue their campaign against bullying on October 24 at the fifth annual Jets Tackle Bullying Educators Symposium presented by Bethpage Federal Credit Union. Typically held at MetLife Stadium during the pre-season, this year’s symposium is a virtual event due to the constraints of the COVID-19 pandemic. Over 850 educators have been in attendance at the past four annual symposiums and more than 250 educators from across the tri-state area are scheduled to login to the trailblazing event beginning at 10:00 a.m.

Co-Director of the Cyberbullying Research Center, Dr. Sameer Hinduja, will deliver the keynote address to the educators. Dr. Hinduja is a Professor in the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice at Florida Atlantic University and is recognized internationally for his groundbreaking work on cyberbullying and safe social media use. Following the keynote presentation, CBS 2 Reporter Alice Gainer will host a panel discussion with Dr. Hinduja and Ross Ellis, founder and CEO of STOMP Out Bullying on the importance of empathy and resilience.

Through the organization’s collaboration with STOMP Out Bullying, the Jets and Bethpage Federal Credit Union have made available a Jets branded STOMP Out Bullying Educator’s Prevention Toolkit at no cost to schools in the tri-state area. This toolkit enables educators to create meaningful dialogue, educate students through proven Social and Emotional Learning methods, foster character building in schools and involve both students and faculty in working together to change school climate. Since the launch of the Educator’s Prevention Toolkit, over 1,750 toolkits have been donated with the potential to reach 787,500 students.
